The Library Photo Archives collection dates back to the Worlds Columbian Exposition of 1893. It comprises over 250,000 images in the areas of Anthropology, Botany, Geology, and Zoology. The collection also documents the history and architecture of the Museum, its exhibitions, staff and scientific expeditions. As part of its public service mission, The Field Museum Library Photo Archives provides reproductions of certain photographs from its collection, for personal or research use only. Any other use, including but not limited to commercial or scholarly publication, exhibition, online/web site, broadcast/film, home video, and promotional use without prior written permission of the Library Photo Archives is strictly prohibited. Granting or withholding of permission is determined by the Photo Archives on a case-by-case basis, and a usage fee may be required. Requesters will be asked to comply with the conditions in the Photo Archive Permissions Contract.
